Official V Release Date?
Fucking twatting RDZ. Erm, I mean well done to them for spotting this entry on the BBC Shop for Series V. It gives what appears to be an official release date: the 8th November. Excellent. Seeing as it's the BBC shop, we can probably trust it. They also say that if you pre-order it from then, you can get it on the day of release: why not order it from Play and get it on the 6th instead?
No "extra!!!!2" information given on the extras yet; but I quite like the episode descriptions given though, particularly the "who's watching the watcher?" bit for Quarantine. I wouldn't be doing my job properly if I didn't point out that in Holoship, Rimmer is not transported from Red Dwarf, but from Starbug. Still, they do call it Demons & Angels rather than Demons and Angels I'M WASTING MY LIFE.
Oh, and they've also got an image of the cover (see a large version here). Put your arguments about it here:

Certainly a mockup, but probably an official one (then again, there's something odd about it that I can't put my finger on). I don't think the final one will look 100% like that.
Where's the GNP logo gone?

Whey, first entry. The cover looks sweet, genuine enough too. Ive recently completed my collection of Red Dwarf series I-IV, so roll on series V!

U is quite a nice letter, actually.

BBC Shop may say that they'll deliver it on the day of release, but if they're anything like the RDSUK then you'll only receive it two days late! Waiting for Play.com is a good idea John :-D

No word on what the featurette is yet, MJN SEIFER. I like them too :-)

Perhaps something like 'Monsters' or something. I really can't think what they do with the featurette's anymore. maybe they'll start another, totaly different, 4 part series of them? Maybe.
I like the cover. The use of the highs is unexpected but welcome. It seems like a slightly unfinished version but no one can complain about the officalness of it.

I wasn't sure about the highs at first, but I like it now.
I suspect that we'll soon find out what the featurette is on TOS. Followed by a nice Down Time article on the same subject, perhaps...

Ah!
I've been meaning to bring this up for a while, and this seems like the time!
As far as future featurettes go...I can think of two more themes that are likely to be used. Ready? Here come my predictions...(obviously I mean these could be used at ANY point in the remaining DVDs and therefore not being included with series V doesn't necessarily render me incorrect I AM ALSO WASTING MY LIFE)
My future featurette predictions:
"Sick." A montage of all the outerspace ailments, from Lister's solid hallucinations to Rimmer's holovirus to Spare Head III's droid-rot to Epideme himself to the potato virus. (But what song should be included? I'm guessing that "Doctor doctor, gimme the news, I got a bad case of loving you" song. It's irrelevant...but so was "I Feel Good.")
"Death." A montage of death and near-death on Red Dwarf, interspersed with Danny's "We're deader than..." lines, and Rimmer's edited-in reply: "Better dead than smeg." We'll see Rimmer's death video, Lister fixing the navicomp, Holly being erased, Rimmer exploding in Timeslides, and we'll top it all off with the Rimmer/death cliffhanger from series VIII. (What song? This is trickier. I don't really know any pop songs about death (and it's very unlikely the dvd's will use anything BUT a famous popsong...) so I'm guessing..."Waiting For the Worms" by Pink Floyd? "And When I Die" by Blood Sweat and Tears? hmm. Oooh, "Knocking on Heaven's Door," probably.)
"Games." A montage of games from the show! All of your favorite time-wasters in one convenient, not-necessarily-entertaining featurette. Relive the hilarity of Junior Angler, moon-golf, Lister's bubble-blowing competition with himself, and the ever-popular "Guess Whose Botty is Sticking Through a Hole in the Curtain." (As for the song..."Games People Play.")
What do y'all think?

By "two more themes" I obviously meant "three more themes." I just wanted to see if you were paying attention. Which I wasn't. Erm...

PHSYCHO!!!!
I am actually MAKING my own Feturettes on Computer, And I have a "Death" one!!! (Far from finnished though)
Posted by MJN SEIFER at June 10, 2004 03:32 PM
I was going to make a model shots featurette, but my college wouldn't let me use the equipment. Cunts.

Make sure the Death one is on series 8 to ensure it ends on an unpleasant note. Build up to it as well, "sick" could be series 7. How about "masterbation", with any vaguely self-gratiating motions put in?
I still want "Thermos" to be one as well, with Dibbley's appearances montaged.

Nah, not Series VII...
