Brittas Series Four

More details have finally emerged from Eureka Video about Brittas Series Four. Firstly, we have the cover; the picture is quite amusing, and certainly better than that for the two and three releases; but I do wish they'd stop using those awful fonts for the "starring" credit and the "complete" tagline at the bottom. Still, they seem to have bypassed the expected cream look, and have leapt straight to Series V. Ahem.

The release date has now been confirmed as the 12th July; the certificate is PG. We've not seen anything for it on the BBFC yet; it's probably still to come, although it has been a bit odd recently. If anyone spots the RD IV menus, let us know...

As for extras; well, let's take these one at a time, shall we?

As for the series itself, there are eight glorious episodes; see our guide for more details. High Noon is one of the best episodes of anything ever.

Is the episode an opera sung by Howard Goodall?

Never a huge Brittas fan (it was never going to be Fawlty Towers was it?), but if every episode was like "Not a good day..." I'd have been a happy man.

I always loved Brittas, it was just an easy watching comedy

Out-takes?!

*wanks furiously*

Let's hope they don't make any encoding cock-ups on the actual episodes like on series 2 and 3.

"it was never going to be Fawlty Towers was it?"

They'd love you on the NOTBBC Comedy Forum.

Are y'all kidding. The Christening is the BEST BRITTAS EVEER!!! Or maybe not.

I much prefer Brittas to Fawlty Towers. And I *love* Fawlty Towers.

More incisive comedy criticism this time next week, fans.

Actually, whats Fawlty Towers got to do with anything? :D

"Actually, whats Fawlty Towers got to do with anything? :D"

Er, that's my cue isn't it?. Well, it's always been my opinion that this is what Brittas aspired to be. It's farce...just like Fawlty Towers was farce.

And it's a sitcom set in a badly run public service...though that's mostly irrelevant.

...And there's a pun on a surname in the title...

I'll go away now.

Ah right, well, from that point of view it may be similar, but I don't think that it was ever meant to be compared.

I think it should be repeated, quite rare for a BBC1 Comedy :D

I love Brittas. It has its ups and downs like any show, but the Fegen/Norris years are consistently great comedy.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that from series 1 to 5, the quality gets better and better. Such a shame the last two series (on the whole, because there *are* a couple of good episodes) piss it all away.

I just wish it was being released by a better company. Eureka are well-intentioned and do the best they can with the budget they have, but it all comes out a bit tacky and bargain-basement-ish. And picture re-grading costs sod-all (they've been very dark-looking, these releases).

Call me crazy, but that all sounds vaguely familiar.

(If you change 5 to 6.)

I ain't seen the last 2 series since it was on TV so can't really say anything on them. I know what happens in the last episode, which is abit of a shit way to end any series

Yes, the Brittas/Dwarf axis is very interesting stuff. Even down to a major character leaving after the writing team changed and an unpopular new female character being introduced.

There's surely some sort of article in that.

Less worthy of an article, but something I'm mentioning anyway - I've just eaten a packet of all-strawberry Fruit Gums. Nothing like a good old factory glitch, eh?

Even more interestingly, I was diverted to the Showcase Cinemas website after trying to reresh this page. Sinister.

Must people always figure out what articles are on my 'to do' list?
