Ian's Newsround - 06/08/04

Ah, lovely. There's just so much of it! Obviously, we've all been keeping up with developments and rumours, but even so, it's lovely to have it all in a big list like that. Particularly lovely is the confirmation of Dwarfing USA - a mini documentary about the failed American pilots. And, with a bit of luck, it will feature ACTUAL CLIPS FROM THE SHOW. !!! Okay, we've all got them on our computers, but it will be great to have bits of it in, presumably, good quality. And what a shame that an extra bit of Craig Charles-ness had to be sacrificed for this. Ahem.

In other news, the "skutter clips" are indeed the Red Dwarf Night IDNEATS EVIL GAS BOTTEL CLOWNE. I'm sorry, sir, I don't know what came over me. Only "one of" the Dave Hollins sketches from Son of Clich will be on the disc. This is a disappointment, but far better than 'none'. No talking book chapters! The only V episode to be dealt with in book form is Quarantine in Last Human. The talking book of that was released by Speaking Volumes (part of the now-defunct Polygram), as opposed to Laughing Stock - it's presumably a rights thing. There are "over 40 minutes" of deleted scenes. I know it's old news, but it feels good just typing that sentence.

There's other things in the world other than DVDs, apparantly. One of the most worthy ones is a big documentary about our favourite TV show. Hurrah! But, the bastard thing has been delayed. It won't be on our Olympics-filled screens until September 6th at the latest. Poo to that, with knobs on. Will the doco be on one of the next DVDs, we wonder? Perhaps on the bonus disc(s) of the rumoured Series I-VIII box-set.

And finally, Danny John-Jules will be appearing at Memorabilia a week tomorrow. Given that the NEC is fifteen minutes away from my house, I'd be stupid to miss it. But I am missing it - there's a BTLi meet in Manchester that day. Hurrah!
