Cock Player
Remember this? Well, it's now been officially announced - although it appears that the deal has just been finalised rather than actually being available to buy yet. It's difficult to tell though when Rok Player's site is so abominably designed.
Interestingly, the initial lineup of episodes appears to have changed. According to this TOS story the three eps were due to be Back to Reality, Gunmen of the Apocalypse and Tikka to Ride; but the new announcement gives Marooned, Quarantine and Cassandra. Odd that it'd change so completely.
Anyway, you know what I think of all this. A complete waste of time and money. If you want to view Dwarf on the move, you already can. Why buy the same content twice? And why not have 36 eps at your disposal, instead of, erm, three? But if you want to go and waste your money, then go right ahead. I'll save it for some of the proper Dwarf treats awaiting us. And prostitutes.

I agree with the idea in principle, and my phone is compatible. But seventeen quid for something that's going to play on a screen smaller than my thumb? Fuck off.

Fuck that. Get Nokia developers media converter jobby from the Nokia forums, rip your DVDs (or download them) and then pop them onto your memory card. My 6630's card will hold 2 episodes ripped at a decent quality to watch, 3 if you reduce it a little. It takes no time and is- ultimately - free.

Tafka, my friend. how are you? Fancy engaging in more Dwarf related slanging matches as we used to on the dear depated Smegweb? No? Please yourself.

A hack I've been dealing with at work announced it here http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/08/23/cult_tv_mobile/ too.
Complete waste of money. It'd take up all your battery power just downloading it.

An update on this is coming on TOS this Friday, Andrew's said on the Webboard.
Incidentally, I must apologise for how shitly the above item is written. It's appalling, with no proper introduction, and lots of details missed out. I shall try and be more competent next time.

The Rok thing is a chip - there's no downloading required.

I just loved on BBC news "fans' favourite Cassandra from series eight". Although I agree it's the best of a bad series, it's not what I would have picked if I could only choose 3 episodes. Likewise with Marooned, although a great character building ep, it just doesn't seem that it would "sell" Dwarf to a casual user.
The orignal choices seem a lot more solid selection, but even then they are all off-ship (be that RD or SB). It would be quite interesting to sit down and work out three definitive episodes that encapsulate everything that Dwarf represents.

Like it or not, VIII is a massivly popular series with fans and Cassandra constantly scores high in fan club polls.
