John's Roundup - 15/8/06

Hello. Roundup time again round here, I'm afraid. I'm off to Edinburgh for a week starting from tomorrow, but expect an announcement about this place extremely soon after that. Unfortunately, I still appear to be under the illusion that anyone cares.

CRAIG ARRESTED: Yeah, you all know. I'm just mentioning it now so people don't think we're avoiding the issue. There's not a huge amount more to say, apart from let's hope he still makes it to DJ. And I have a very funny joke here that I'd like to do, but I don't DARE.

BEAT THE GEEK MENUS: Excellent! I could go on about how gorgeous the menus are (and you know you're pathetically geeky when you realise that you're genuinely excited about seeing new angles on the existing DVD menu sets...) - and the "unrendering" and zooming round the ship sound fantastic. Unfortunately, I then saw the questions and shat my pants. The first two are OK, but if the last two are any indication of difficulty, then I may need to buy several copies to replace the discs I fling out the window. You BASTARD, Ellard.

BACK IN BUSINESS: A trailer has been released for Chris Barrie's new film, as TOS reports. It's impossible to tell what the actual film is like, as the trailer seems to have been edited by a certain Colin Hunt. Will trailer people please realise that humorous captions have never actually been funny?

I'm extremely excited about Brian Blessed, though.

MASSIVE ENGINES DVD: Here! Due to be released 25th September. I'm extremely surprised this has got a release, actually - and I wonder whether the presence of Chris Barrie means that they're banking on the Red Dwarf geek market to make it worthwhile. Still, it's a great show, and worthy of a release.

And that's your lot. Sorry. My guilt chips is already in overdrive - I-I feel terrible...

Comments

You're right about the questions. I'd be guessing at that Psirens one unless I had a little time to think. Anyone thinking they were just going to cruise through the Dwarf questions can think again, it would seem.

Regarding teh Charles, I hope it all gets cleared up.

Come on. Get it said.

Hang on - the first one's a general knowledge photo question (like you'll be playing THAT category!), and the last one is impossible to answer without seeing the clip in advance! If you HAD managed to get that one I'd be worried...

I was concerned, from the test disc we've been playing with for level one, that it may all be too EASY. But then, I wrote the RD questions, so it's not easy to be objective.

Oh, and after a couple of levels the game switches to be against the clock. Pressure!

What the smeg is with the Back in Business website? First, it takes forever to load anything and second they refer to Chris as Chris Barry in the cast and crew section!?

And yes, please tell the joke....

Yeah, I know the last question will be a clips-based one. But I know how bad I am at those!

But I wasn't criticising them, anyway. I think the questions look great.

You know what - I did plan to tell it if anyone asked in the comments, but I've forgotten it. Honestly.

Ah well, we should do a special jokes page. We've got more than enough material.

Just to let people know that the final technical hurdle concerning the new site has now been overcome.

Expect an announcement either later today, or at the latest tomorrow.

*pencils in Sunday as his provisional expectation, but concedes that he may be early with that...*
