Have I Got A Second Series?

The current BBC logo.Journalism! Having e-mailed the Good Old BBC about whether QI or The Crouches will be returning, I got the following response:

"There are currently no plans for a further series of 'The Crouches' or 'QI' however I will register your interest for the attention of the appropriate departments."

Wah, on several counts: firstly, I have inadvertently registered my interest for a second series of the excerable Crouches; but secondly, there are no plans for a second series of the excellent QI. This doesn't neccessarily mean that either of them won't return, of course (anyone out there heard anything?) - but it does mean that currently nothing official has taken place yet. I suggest if you want QI to return, you get in touch with the BBC. If you're considering getting in touch to ask for the return of The Crouches, you can just piss off. Right now. I just don't want you reading the site.

For those interested, the 12th and as yet final episode of QI is broadcast on Tuesday night, as it was held back as a Christmas special.

Excellent. I'm greatly looking forward to this.

I'd kind of assumed QI would get recomissioned, seeing as it had been recieved so well (it even got letters to RT/POV) - I really hope that it does, and just nothing official has been sorted out until the broadcast of the Chrimbo ep.

Excellent! I really do hope it gets a second series; if it doesn't, I shall be most annoyed. Best new programme in ages.

This is what I got back from the beeb:

Dear Ruth

Thank you for your e-mail.

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed ‘QI’. I have recorded your kind comments and have logged them for the attention of the programme makers. I am sure they will all appreciate your praise.

I can tell you that there are currently no plans for a second series of this programme, however, pleased be assured that I have registered your interest in this programme for the attention of our programme commissioners.

Thank you again for contacting the BBC.

I recall an interview with Alan Davies (possibly on Jonathan Ross) saying that a second series had already been commisioned - the only stumbling block being finding spare time in his and Fry's schedules. My memory is hazy, so I could be wrong.

This website claims that there are tickets for a second series ready.

Yeah, but a while ago C4 were advertising tickets for Gash series 2 - a recommission that thankfully never occurred.

On the other hand, it's something quite hopeful to cling onto; and the recordings are supposed to start this month.

Let's hope that this article is yet another example of not being able to get correct info out of the Beeb.
