Cor! Prop Store

A photo of Lister's harpoon gun from Cassandra. Oh bloody buggering hell! The Prop Store's grand sale of Red Dwarf props continues apace. Straight on to the new items:

ItemSeries/EpisodePrice
JMC Peach Slice TinDuct Soup75
Jenny Agutter CostumePsirens465
Lister Harpoon GunCassandra545
Kochanski Silver CostumeNanarchy625
Rimmer CD DiaryBack In The Red (deleted scene)75
Vat Red Fur Coat & WaistcoatWhite Hole779
JMC Air FreshenerSeries VIII19

Perhaps nothing that is iconic, there - although Cat's White Hole costume is pretty special, and those (like me) with a soft spot for Cassanda will want the harpoon gun. That'd be great to walk around and threaten people with at Dimension Jump. The Rimmer CD Diary is very interesting - with what we keep hearing about deleted/re-shot scenes from VIII, it should be a huge section on the DVD.

Oddly, it appears that bugger all of any of the props listed has actually been bought - so I'll be taking my chance to buy something small when I get paid this month...

Why does my brain go into amusing flights of fancy when it processes the words "Jenny Agutter costume"? I keep imagining it's a Disneyland-style costume of Jenny Agutter.

Which, of course, would be better.

That Rimmer CD Diary looks very interesting. I wonder if they recorded anything on it.

Yeah, a personal message from Chris Barrie saying "YOU'VE WASTED SEVENTY-FIVE QUID, YOU DAFT SOD!"

I'd gladly waste seventy-five quid on that.

"Oddly, it appears that bugger all of any of the props listed has actually been bought"

I think you spoke too soon - the Rimmer dress appears to be missing. Unless...

Ah - I'll tell you why I assumed that. The "Status" line has all the props listed as "For Sale" - I presumed that because they had that line, sold items would still turn up, listed as "Sold", rather than just being removed. All a bit confusing, really...

Oh, and just a thought regarding the absence of Red Dwarf on BBC2, It just came to me that Sunday was Remembrance day and 'Timeslides'(The advertised episode) contained jokes about Hitler,
The Beeb may have deemed it in bad taste on such an occasion..Just a thought of course..

I'm absolutely sick of people telling me that making fun of Hitler is in bad taste.

IT'S HITLER. HE WAS A *BAD MAN*.

Posted by Darrell Jones at November 10, 2003 08:43 PM

Hitler was an Evil Dictating Bastard responsible for 100's of thousands of Deaths, And Remembrance day is all about the People who died fighting his evil dictatorship and those like it. The BBC are not saying we shouldn't take the piss out of him, merely making the point that a Comedy show including Hitler could be taken the wrong way at this particular time.Over the top possibly, but you can see both sides. And Don't forget the BBC gave us Red Dwarf, Fawlty Towers and Dads Army, all of which took the piss out of Hitler at some stage.

Posted by Cpt-D at November 10, 2003 11:04 PM

No I can't see both sides, it seems ridiculous. See this hypothetical situation:-

ME: Wasn't Hitler a right evil bastard!
WAR VETERAN: You're right there, mate!

The alternative is this:-

ME: Wasn't Hitler a right evil bastard!
WAR VETERAN: Wash your mouz out vit soap and ze water you English svine!

Err, yes, I think you missed my point. In the real
World many many people fail to see humour in anything and are just waiting to jump onto anything they see as Glorifying Hitler, once one complains usually others join in. 99% of us KNOW the BBC are NOT gloryfying him in any way, in fact quite the Contrary, Taking the Piss is a national pass time. But it only takes one mis-guided person to, for example write to the Radio times and all the sad gits join in thus tarnishing the name of the BBC and Red Dwarf. I recall this happening with the 'Germans' episode of Fawlty Towers and some Papers got involved at the time causing considerable outcry. With so much going on Red Dwarf wise I/E the DVD's and the Film, maybe the BBC were right to err on the side of caution. And Both sides DO agree that Hitler was Evil, But some people fail to see humour in anything.
