Chris Barrie's Massive Engines

Just a quickie. Tanya Jones, the third G&T-er, has send us this review of Chris Barrie's Massive Engines, the Discovery series that started tonight. It's a good job she saw it, as I forgot it was on. Tsk. Still, it's being shown every weeknight for the next two weeks, so I'm sure I'll remember at least one episode...

Bloody Britain really is rather gruesome, although I have to admit that demonstrating floggings on a dead pig's leg is ingenious. The amputation demonstrated on a cow's carcass was even worse, but I certainly won't forget how lucky I am not to be working in the British Navy of the 1800's.

Nicely summed up Tanya, I've always liked the discovery channel, not too taxing on the brain whilst still being informative and the use of unusual (in main stream terms) presenters adds to the entertainment.....One downside being the 'every night' part as with 4 people fighting over the sky remote, I doubt I will catch all of them....I wonder if Chris will pop an impersonation or two into each episode!

Not seen Mr Barrie's yet, but watched an ep of Mark Williams' one the other day and enjoyed it.

Quite pleased to spot that it was produced by Mark "Turlough off of Doctor Who and mentioned in Little Britain" Strickson.

I tried to turn this into an article, but not even I could manage it.

He's never smoked in his life, except for in Dimension Jump where he's clearly smoking...

The poster for the series, if people haven't seen it. Excellent work, Matt.
