Incmocoppece Rvleasded
Well Krytie: today is the day. The day we get sick of using that quote? No, the day Incompetence is released today in the UK in hardback. (The paperback is due out on the 14th October; just buy the damn book now.) And for everyone moaning on about how Rob Grant is now RUBBISH, don't forget that Ian likes it. From what I've briefly read of it, it seems rather good, too. This month's SFX (#113) only gives it 3/5 stars, but deems it "definitely innovative and interesting enough to be worth a try". But then, they also gave VIII five stars, and II four stars, so what do they know?
Don't forget Rob's little tour, as well; we hope to have a report on at least one of the events. Meanwhile, our competition winner will be announced on the 2nd January - today is your last chance to win yourself a signed copy of the book...

He clearly doesn't want to be assosiated with RD anymore, so why is the Official site plugging it? He clearly isn't arsed about RD so why bother!?
I'd buy it but I have better authors to read

Don't be so childish, Dryz. He departed from the show to persue alternative projects - he didn't break into your house and shit on your living room carpet.
I'm actually quite looking forward to this book.

Happy New Year!
This time last year 'All Change' was just a pipe dream.

I'm not being childish, just cos I don't like to fuck everything anyone does connected to RD doesn't make me childish.

It's true. This left to persue alternative persuits is one thing but he's pratically denied any association since. He could have been involved to a much greater extent in the DVDs and such. The only time you seem to here him mention the show was a few references to the way things went after he left. I think he mentioned not even watching the later two series. Actually he was quiet clever there I suppose.

Then he went on to write Dark Ages and The Strangerers thus forfeiting all rights to slag off Series 7 and 8 :D

He did the top ten sci-fi program. He's not the complete wanker people make him out to be.

"No, the day Incompetence is released today"? Oh, fuck off.
Re: the Rob Grant thing - I think it's a great shame that he didn't contribute to the DVDs. Wanting to be known for things other than Dwarf is completely understandable - and he doesn't owe the fans anything, as co-writing such a bloody good series is enough. On the other hand, it wouldn't have taken a great deal of his time (an hour or whatever of shooting for the documentaries would have been all that was needed - he didn't have to take a producer's role, or anything). Obviously one reason *could* be that there's bad blood between him and Doug, although it would be dodgy to assume that is the case.
As for TOS plugging it, that's fair enough, though - the book is likely to be of interest to a lot of Dwarf fans, whatever Rob does. From what I've read of it, it seems a very good book - I really enjoy his prose style. His sick mind also appeals rather too much to me, I think.

Bad Blood?
We'll there was that incident with Dougs missus I suppose.
Posted by TBA at January 2, 2004 12:22 PM
Ah. That'll be the one for which there is no evidence, and which we have no right to be discussing in any case.

It's not a case of there not being evidence - that thing is just a joke. Although possibly an ill-advised one to make here without the context attatched.

Na I'm not worried... it's your website.
Basically Rob Grant DID NOT to the jiggy jiggy with DOUG NAYLORS missus. This in turn bieng purely a fictional event DID NOT contribute in anyway shape or form to the break up of the partnership.
That said it's amazing what you can get a packed Official Site to believe if you spend a good hour supplying them with half-truths, well known trivia and a few secrets first....

Of course we all know the reason Rob and Doug fell out is because Doug CRASHED STARBUG INTO ROB'S HOUSE.

Elton and Sayle, McGrath and Mulville, Grant and Naylor - why is it that lots of great eighties comedy bred such (alleged) bitter feuds?
