RDSUK Discounts
Being signed up to RDSUK's mailing list, yesterday I got one of their usual wonderful e-mails (why they send nasty inaccessible HTML crap instead of a simple text file and a link to a webpage if necessary, I have no idea.) The gist of it was that there are currently a number of Chrimbo special offers: fantastic bargains at incredible prices! The Skutter Concept T-shirt, reduced from 14.99 to 7.49; this Set of 4 Red Dwarf Coasters, reduced from 12.99 to 6.49. Yes, everything must go, everything must go to my wife - because, my wife is leaving me. She's leaving me because I talk like this, all the time, and it's driven her, completely round the twist...
Sorry. It looks like that's it for these half-price special discounts; the coasters are automatically crap because they carry the Re-mastered/VIII ship on (sorry; we refuse to budge on this one). But, owning a Skutter T-shirt myself, I can say it's my favourite thing I wear, apart from my Acorn T-shirt. I'm sure you'll make your feelings on that piece of information abundantly clear in the comments below.
If you order by the 17th December, we are promised that all products ordered will arrive in time for Christmas (UK only). Cynics might point out that RDSUK weren't particuarly reliable with their delivery of the Series III DVD (promising it would arrive at people's homes on the release date, when in fact it was actually just despatched then); but it's a bit unfair to judge them purely on this. It means you'll definitely get your stuff in time for Christmas if you order it now, anyway. And if you register with RDSUK now, you get a chance to win a DVD player, the winner of which will be announced on the 30th June 2003! Oh. Well, at least, looking at the front page, you get to buy the Brittas Series 2 DVD, reduced from 19.99 to 19.99, or the Red Dwarf logo T-shirt, reduced from 9.99 to 9.99... OK, OK, I know. I'm a cunt. I'll stop.
On a completely unreleated note, why not download this, from here, and then buy this?

On a completely different note, have you noticed that on the Series IV DVD page on RDSUK they have taken off the text saying they will deliver it on the release date? By law if they are no longer promising to deliver on time they would have to contact all customers who have pre-ordered the item and tell them, which they havent (I don't think).
Lucky for me I cancelled my S4 DVD order after the S3 DVD was late.

Interesting. I must say, I don't see why anyone would order the DVDs themselves from RDSUK any more, when they didn't even get the III one on the release date - and Play usually gets it to you on the Saturday anyway. It's a nice enough place for other merchandise, though.
I'm still annoyed that they've removed all the Corgi models and not actually posted a message about it on the site, mind you. Did they send out e-mails to *everyone* who had pre-ordered it in the end?

I eventually got mine a week after the original complaint and after 2 emails from Corgi themselves.Series III arrived 3 days after release
having been sent 2nd class, by my calculations they make another 2.00 per DVD by doing this and this is taking into consideration the cost of jiffy bags..actual postage 1st class would be just 75p as opposed to 40p 2nd...all in all, I'm not impressed..Having said that, there is still stuff worth buying there and I will try them again.

Life would be simple in the forest, except for Cyril Sneer....

Hi again.
Just thought I'd mention that Red Dwarf Shop UK have updated with a new piccy of the Series IV DVD cover. It's similar to the one shown on The Red Dwarf Zone, but the spine is Kryten again, the BBC logo has changed (slightly) and the pics on the front are back.
I've updated my site with the news, but it won't be uploaded for a while due to on-going ftp probs.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
