Round-up Time
Right - a few little stories that probably deserve their own articles, but I just can't be arsed. Isn't it nice to know that so much love goes into this site?
Firstly, the Daily Mirror III promotional DVD. Big Blake claims the voucher can be redeemed until Monday 4th November - wheras the voucher itself states "Redeemable on Saturday November 1st, 2003 ONLY". I'll have a go on Monday with my voucher, but it looks like we've missed out - sorry to anyone if they've tried as well and they refuse to accept it. I don't think that's going to be a major problem, though - because despite 125,000 copies being produced, there are reports that Woolworths have been running out Saturday anyway. As soon as we get hold of a copy, we'll do a report on it - Big Blake reveals that as well as The Last Day, the extras are a couple of Smeg Ups from the ep, and the two deleted Silicon Heaven sections. See the full report on his site for details. And I'm afraid I have to whinge about this: the Mirror claims that Red Dwarf is a "90s space comedy", despite it starting in 1988 and giving away an episode from 1989. Damn fools.
An interesting story from the Daily Record - the first pagan wedding in Scotland for 100 years has been performed by a couple of Red Dwarf fans, Jessica and John Turner. I'd love to be able to insert a quote from the wedding scene in Emohawk here, but the line I want is in Kinitawowi, and I can't remember it - and I don't trust the transcripts on the net. So just watch the episode and do it yourself.
Finally - don't forget Ian's review of the Series III DVD, coming later today. He's just e-mailed me informing me that "Doing my review now. It's a biggie." Excellent. And if you're too cheap to buy the DVD yourself (you IDIOT), why not enter this competition?

Hi all.
Sorry about the DVD thing - I missed out too :-( I was told in an email from Mirror that ALL of the DVDs could be claimed from the Saturday to the Monday inclusive and it was also printed in the last couple of Saturday Mirrors. I borrowed the DVD from a mate because they got theirs really early in the day, but I didn't see the paper until it was too late.
I've heard that a couple of people managed to get the DVD today, but I'm going to look on eBay, as I've seen the previous RD Mirror giveaway there going for a couple of quid.
Toodle pip.

Well that's a good enough case to get what you want then. If you have the token(s) and some evidence of the above information, they can't say, "Oh no, we changed our minds, so..." Be firm and get what you want.
That's if it matters. Since the DVD proper is coming out on Monday perhaps you don't need your shelf filled up with duplicates of the same stuff.

Well, I've already got the DVD, and I'm gutted that I missed the preview. Apart from my completist nature, I was going to write an article about it.

Info. Man - I may try and get the free DVD tomorrow but chances are my Woolies has already run out as reported here (I've no idea where my nearest Big W is either).
I'm going to scrounge around next week in my Sixth Form, asking if anyone has the freebie and doesn't want it.
Rest assured, I SHALL get one soon. (I too have a completist nature and am quite narked).

I picked mine up at Woollies at 9.00 am Sat,not
realising they opened at 8.30...The Counter Lad said they had a few waiting for the doors to open and it seemed more popular than last weeks. When the Mirror did the last set I missed one of the set, but having rung the Mirror they took my address and posted a copy...

For Sweet Jesus and Goodness God. If I was a marketing sleuth I'd have you. Fucking glad I'm not caught by that particular need. Otherwise I'd need to photocopy every book I owned, and keep both the original and the photocopy, and probably sit at home colouring in the black and white approximations of previously technicolor images or something, instead of just reading the original bloody things. And then if I bought a camera I'd start taking photos of the originals AND the photocopies, and saying "But I'm a COMPLETIST" to any guests that are coming in as I glue each version to my walls. I would call my OWN behaviour diseased if I was doing that! Since you're not me, that makes it worse!

What's wrong with buying an item that will be quite rare in years to come?
