Brittas Series Three released on Boxing Day?
Series Three of The Brittas Empire has been listed on Play.com. As you can see, details are extraordinarily sketchy, but a release date is given - 26th December 2003. Given that most shops are closed on Boxing Day, this may well be wrong. The date could be just the day on which Play, as an online retailer, will start to dispatch the DVD. But we expect the high street release won't be too far behind, with Empire Video hoping to capitalise on the post-Christmas gift voucher revenue.
In the meantime, Series Two will be released on 20th October. We'll have a review and all that as soon as possible after this date. And there's another DVD release starring Chris Barrie a fortnight after this, apparantly.

I hadn't seen The Brittas Empire since it ended on BBC1, and was avoiding UK Gold etc. in case it ruined my fond memories of it. However, I've been watching the 4am repeats on Granada Plus and have realised once more how great it is.
Let's hope they keep this quick release rate up - I'm definitely going to have to start buying these DVDs.

The Brittas Empire is truly wonderful - and has had plenty of undeserved criticism. It's one of those shows that was very popular at the time, but it also completely underated. I just love the feel of it - especially for a primetime BBC1 sitcom, it just feels so edgy and dangerous.
We do have plans to do expand the Brittas section quite substantially...

We do? :-o

If it's any help, I *may* be able to get hold of a copy of a Brittas Empire clip compilation video exclusively released to workplaces in the mid-nineties, designed to demonstrate 'how not to etc etc'. If this is of any use to you I'll try and wing a tape.

That would be fantastic, Darrell. We're in contact with the people who make the DVDs, too - they may well be interested as well, as they are searching for extras themselves.

Finally, "Chris Barrie's Motoring Wheel Nuts" gets a digital release!

I once saw a ridiculously large pyramid of copies of 'Motoring Wheel Nuts' in a discount bookshop in Blackpool - they must have had *hundreds* of copies. I still didn't buy it - I could sense its skankiness.

They played it at DJ on Sunday afternoon. You could feel the disillusionment from those who thought Chris Barrie was perfect. My attitude can be gauged from the short length of this:
