Ian's Newsround - 20/09/03

Sorry I'm late. It's Karl Eisenhauer's fault. Anyway - props. The latest additions to The Prop Store Of London include the excellent jigsaw from Thanks for the Memory (349), Kryten's Sensational Reverse Brother outfit from Backwards (a mere 1,169 - one pound for each Red Dwarf crew member, c. Series IV), a poster featurring the aforementioned novelty act (309), a backpack worn by Kryten in Marooned (385), a table golf manual from Timeslides (175), the Simulant's knife from Justice (195) and, excellently, Holly's fishing hat from Dimension Jump (175). It's all brilliant, exciting stuff. Expensive, admittedly. But we can dream, can't we?

This week, the official site has updated with a new article in the fantastic Down Time section - Roleplaying Report. Written by RPG-supremo Todd Downing, the report focuses on the recent Dragonflight 2003 - a big gaming convention, where in the excellent Red Dwarf: The Roleplaying Game was showcased. It apparantly went down very well, with many punters suitably impressed with the conversion from sit-com to RPG. Now, do you think that this will persuade mainstream book shops in the UK to sell the bloody thing?

Bit of scheduling news. Series V starts on Australia's UK.TV on Saturday 27th September, whereas our very own UK Gold will show Series II from this date. However, there will be no Series III repeat on BBC TWO on the 25th. Fuckers. Makes you a little jealous of Canada, who are getting Red Dwarf every night of the week on BBC Kids. Even though Red Dwarf is not even remotely a kids' show.

In other news, I now recognise Steve Clark as somebody who I briefly chatted to on Friday night at Dimension Jump. Hello! Don't forget to watch him on Mastermind on the 29th. Also, the front page of the official site has been updated since Friday. The DVD Details section now displays the correct date. Well done.

UPDATE: It has been noted that yesterday was in fact the 21st. Not the 20th. Good old sleep deprivation.

Bring back the pictures with the hovery messages! :(

Posted by Drzymala at September 21, 2003 07:33 PM

We will. It's a pain in the arse to do them, and I couldn't be fucked earlier. But in future, we will.

Posted by Ian Symes at September 21, 2003 08:53 PM

Yay! :) apart from most of the exlusive news, thats my favourite bit :D simple mind, simple pleasures :D

Posted by Drzymala at September 21, 2003 09:07 PM

If you're that excited over a couple of pictures, please God no-one show him a kaleidoscope. I fear he may have a heart attack.

Posted by Darrell Jones at September 21, 2003 10:46 PM

Hmmmm *sighs* I never said I was excited over them. Personally I think it adds summat to a site rather than reams of text. Sorry for having an opinion and a suggestion

Posted by Drzymala at September 22, 2003 07:57 AM

I should fucking well think so.

Posted by Ian Symes at September 22, 2003 09:30 AM

I just found the hovery messages hilarious :) You don't have to put them back on if you don't want to

Posted by Drzymala at September 22, 2003 05:04 PM

Well I was holding back from posting on here because to be honest I have other things to do. But as things stand I have the following to say:

I AM GOD, AND TOTALLY RIGHT.

Repeat that aloud, but replace "I" with "YOU". Thanks.

Next (and these are your lines, so don't bother saying them aloud, just get on with it, times 2000 by the way, and I want them by tomorrow morning):

I WILL NOT WASTE THE LORD MY GOD'S TIME OR ANYBODY ELSE'S BY WINGEING ABOUT SOME FUCKING HOVERY MESSAGES DISAPPEARING FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE AGES TO ME BECAUSE I AM LONELY. THEY ARE NOT HILARIOUS TO ANYBODY BUT MYSELF; IN FACT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED AGES BEFORE THEY WERE, AND IN TIME I WILL LEARN THIS LIKE A GOOD BOY, TRAINED BY GOOD PARENTS. INCIDENTALLY I HAVE A PROBLEM WHEREBY I KEEP TAKING BACK WHAT I'VE SAID BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO APPEAR LIKE I AM MOANING WHEN I AM. I AM AWARE THAT DOING SO RESULTS IN ME APPEARING NEUROTIC AND ACTUALLY FAR WORSE THAN IF I (FOR EXAMPLE) WOULD JUST LEAVE THE WHOLE AFFAIR WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN THE FIRST PLACE. YOURS, DRZYMALA.

2000 times remember.

My kaleidoscope comment was purely in jest.

Posted by Darrell Jones at September 22, 2003 06:14 PM

lol! :D

I just like them :D

Posted by Drzymala at September 22, 2003 06:22 PM

Nice message whoever it is who put that, made me laugh :D

Posted by Drzymala at September 22, 2003 06:25 PM

Man! Red Dwarf fans always cause trouble!

Posted by John Hoare at September 22, 2003 07:05 PM

All cos I liked the hovery things *red*

Posted by Drzymala at September 22, 2003 07:14 PM

There was clearly no need for that, Bath University person. The ALT text on pictures was often a private joke between Dryzmala and myself, so he is utterly correct to moan about their absence. Also, pictures make the site look a hell of a lot better.

Posted by Ian Symes at September 22, 2003 08:37 PM

I certainly never meant it as an insult to either Symes or Hoare about the pics :)

And its Drzymala : hehe :)

Posted by Drzymala at September 22, 2003 10:09 PM

Listen, Symes. There are no private jokes whenever I am involved. I am omnipresent.

Posted by I Am God at September 23, 2003 10:00 AM

I can't be arsed with this. I'm going for a Kip.

Posted by Ian Symes at September 23, 2003 10:03 AM

Christianity is really down the pan these days. ISN'T ANYBODY LISTENING TO ME? WHY WON'T ANYBODY DO AS I SAY?

Posted by I Am God at September 23, 2003 10:40 AM

You're a smegging Bliss freak.

Posted by Ian Symes at September 23, 2003 12:44 PM

What's a bliss freak?

Posted by Somebody who isn't God at September 23, 2003 01:03 PM

Read Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers.

Posted by Ian Symes at September 23, 2003 01:06 PM

Why not just tell me?

Posted by Somebody who isn't God at September 23, 2003 01:41 PM

Ah, bliss :)

Posted by Drzymala at September 23, 2003 05:12 PM

You'd think God would be able to spell "whingeing".

Posted by Nik at September 23, 2003 06:16 PM

It's difficult to spell when you're typing with only one hand.

Posted by Tanya at September 23, 2003 06:25 PM

Exactly, does it really need a woman to tell you that I can hardly focus on spelling when I have "wank for mankind" on my urgent list. Meanwhile, if you must know Nik, not that your perspective matters one jot to me since a single human life is but a single blink of my Godly eye, I did spell that right in the first place, but my "H" fell off.

See what I did there? Oh, never mind.

Posted by I Am God at September 24, 2003 01:40 PM

I'm bored now.

Posted by Tanya at September 25, 2003 04:57 PM

I'm getting my hair cut today.

Dum de dum

:)

Posted by Drzymala at September 25, 2003 05:12 PM

Omnipresent? Sorry to hear that.

I'm sure they can do things for guys like you these days,
