Smegnus Smegnusson
In an excellent move, a contestant on BBC TWO's recently relaunched Mastermind has chosen Red Dwarf as his specialist subject! My new favourite person Steve Clark will be in the big swivelly chair on September 29th, at 8:00pm.
Of course, Red Dwarf was a specialist subject in an edition of Noel Edmonds's Telly Addicts in the mid-nineties, but this is obviously better. Let's just hope that Steve does us proud. And if you're reading this, Steve, I salute you. Thanks to BTLi's Leelu the Cat for letting us know.

I wonder if it's possible to choose Magnus Magnusson as your specialist subject.

It's possible to choose anything that can have 30 questions asked about it. A greater number is ideal to allow the contestant some surprise as to which questions to expect. The subject of Magnus Magnusson permits two chief strands, namely "career" and "home", the former consisting only of the game "Mastermind", the latter being private except to "the bitch", who is allowed to know all she wants.

I wonder whether this is the same Steve Clark who writes TV-related books, such as that Only Fools and Horses Story thing.
I also wonder why I bothered wondering the above.
