Son of Cliché repeated too
Yes, straight after the run of Cliché on BBC7, comes its better known sequel; Son of Cliché. Broadcast at 2pm and 9pm, the original plan was to show five episodes, over the space of two weeks. However, this has since changed, to the following:
Episode | BBC7 tx date | Original R4 tx date |
---|---|---|
A2 | Wednesday 17th September 2003 | 30th August 1983 |
B1 | Thursday 18th September 2003 | 3rd November 1984 |
B4 | Friday 19th September 2003 | 24th November 1984 |
B5 | Monday 22th September 2003 | 1st December 1984 |
Quite why the plans have changed, or indeed, why they are playing seemingly random episodes, is beyond us. Thanks to Nik Horne and Darrell Jones for gathering info for us. They are lovely.

This is dreadfully unfair for those of us who have already heard it. I was thinking they should broadcast a remade version instead of repeating the original one. People new to the (fucking) thing wouldn't know the difference, and people familiar with it wouldn't become overwhelmed by boredom as that Slaughterhouse 5 re-enactment drones on and on with those particular slurs of dialect. And don't make out like Red Dwarf was somehow a remake of the radio one and what am I harping on about, because I am clearly correct.
So there.

I bet your the sort of cunt who likes re-mastered Red Dwarf, too!

No, I hate remastered Red Dwarf, it actually makes me piss into crisp packets and drop them right-way-up out of my living room window onto the streets below.
What I like about the idea of the Red Dwarf movie (to use the common parlance: "Why I think the Red Dwarf movie will be good") is that it is essentially a remake of the remastered series. The reason I hate the remastered ones is that they are always the same as the last time you saw them. I would actually like them if the video I taped off the telly magically upgraded itself to a new version each time.
The movie will basically be all the stuff of the remastered series remade into a long version. All the older, non-remastered stuff is too old, too far away now, so it will be ignored; it is partially present in the remastered version but only slightly (and quite rightly), and will therefore only appear as a kind of echo in the latest version.
And by the time it appears on the telly (assuming it will first be at the cinema) I want it to be remade again by the way.

What the hell do they teach you at Bath University?

Bull shit, I think.
Your basically writing off Cliche and Son of Cliche because they have not been 'up-dated'?
Do you not understand the joy of watching, or listening, to something so blatently old that it is a pleasure to watch or listen to from beginning to end?

I don't think our anonymous friend is being entirely serious, Capps. It's what's known as trolling.

What does "trolling" mean?
Posted by Neither, thanks at September 11, 2003 09:32 PM
It means 'the act of being a troll', which in turn means 'having tall green hair and hanging around bridges'.

It's odd that this wasn't reported on the official site today. Written by Rob and Doug, starring Chris Barrie, the inspiration for Red Dwarf... it's absolutely bizarre it wasn't mentioned.

There's an episode on the 29th, too, but I don't know which one, nor whether there are more to follow (The Masterson Inheritance is on the 30th).

And now that's gone too. Digiguide are even better atmaking me look a tit than NTL.
