Film Fun
No big news here, but the kind of random snippets I specialise in. In Dwarf movie stuff, Thomas Evans got in touch (bloody ages ago) to point us towards the latest problems to hit UK film production. Whether it has any impact at all on the Dwarf Movie is unknown, at least to us. Whilst it's planned to be shot in Australia, it is still a British film; let's hope this hasn't caused any more problems for the troubled production.
In an even more worrying development, David Bondar, Helpdesk Tools Specialist, has got in touch to tell us that Tomb Raider 3 is a possibility; something that Chris Barrie is interested in, unsurprisingly. Whilst I don't greet the news with much excitement (the games are ace, though), I do have one question: do you see Angelina's tits in either of the first two? If you do, I may reconsider my opinion. But campaign for a vag shot.
Oh, and Fat Slags stuff (written on 12th January):
"Just received word that a test screening of The Fat Slags has taken place last week. The comments I have received are very negative, such as Geri Halliwell not being able to act. The humour is very childish, with very few laugh out loud jokes. That's all to be expected but a fair portion of the people attending walked out of the preview halfway through. Not a good sign, but I will temper that with the fact that the people who attended the screening were all over 25. I really hope this isn't the audience they are pitching the movie at, surely they will be pitching this at the teenage audience, who will appreciate the puerile, downright sick sense of humour of The Fat Slags?"
Well, it sounds great to me, anyway. I'm fed up of words like "sick" and "puerile" being used as terms to "slag" (!) off comedy...
Comments
I'd rather put my dick in a blender than go anywhere near a cinema screen showing the fat slags.
Nice, slim, sex, hot slags, well thats different innit!
:D

The worst thing is, I'd probably go and see The Fat Slags because Ed Bye directed it; and yet I never got round to seeing Tomb Raider with Chris Barrie. How pathetic.

Viz is very funny, as is Ed Bye. It might be good.

It just really annoys me how people describe some comedy (as shown in the article, not anything Matt has said); as though by not liking tit, fart and bum jokes, they're somehow superior.

Is Ed Bye going to direct the movie? I know he definitely was at first, then there was something about co-direction with him and Doug, then I heard word that Doug alone was going to direct.
Does anyone know? Has Doug ever directed before? I would actually be more worried about this than whether the script is any good. Crap director=crap film (hopefully not).

Ed Bye isn't going to direct the movie, as far as anyone knows. My *guess* is that he simply couldn't put his career on hold whilst all the delays keep happening, but that is pure speculation. And yes, Doug Naylor is down to direct it.
Doug directed a couple of eps of Series V with Rob (and quite a bit more pick-up stuff, too). I think he's the obvious choice for the directors role, to be honest - in interviews he seems to have exact ideas about how he wants the film to look (it'll look very unlike the TV series, apparently). I can see why people might worry slightly, but I suspect he'd probably be really good.

Regarding the movie looking different from the TV show, I believe that can only be a good thing.
For one, the descriptions of the ship and environments given in the first two Red Dwarf novels would be incredible to say played out (hopefully the look of the movie being based on the novels).
Secondly, giving the film a seperate look to the tv series would help stop people getting confused since the movie is meant to be a retelling of the Dwarf story.

Forgot to add in response to your questions about Angelina's tits in Tomb Raider.
As far as I know, there are no shots (haven't seen the movie) but the rumour mill does have it that for the first movie they had computer artists go through the entire movie and increase her cup size to better match the proportions of her video game counterpart. :)

Well, if they're going to go to all that trouble, they might as well show more of them.

"for the first movie they had computer artists go through the entire movie and increase her cup size to better match the proportions of her video game counterpart."
Read that back and think it through.

Nope...still means the same to me.
Tissue always worked for me when I was 12.

I think Darrell meant that to do that it would have meant editing every single frame of the movie. Not terribly viable.

Joey's effectively spelled it out - if they wanted to increase her specifications they would have used padding/prosthetics, not nigh-impossible-to-implement-and-ludricrously-expensive-and-time-consuming digital manipulation...

"as though by not liking tit, fart and bum jokes, they're somehow superior."
I'm not going to argue this to the death, but basically I just thought I'd let you know that I'm superior to tit, fart and bum jokes.

"(it'll look very unlike the TV series, apparently)"
According to those in the know, it'll be like a non-dress-rehearsal version of series VII, so there.

Fact: tit, fart and bum jokes are actually superior to me.

Ha ha! Farts!

Sometimes when I fart it makes a noise as well as a smell!!
