There isn't a Floor 13!

This should be of interest to some of you. Craig Bierko (Lister in Red Dwarf USA) stars in The Thirteenth Floor, which is to be shown on BBC ONE at 11:20pm this evening. Unless you are reading this tomorrow, in which case you've missed it. It's a sci-fi thriller, in which our hero is transported to a computer-generated version of the 1930s. Hmmm. Still, it gets 6.4/10 on IMDB, so it's sure to be good.

When you watch Red Dwarf USA, you get the impression that Craig isn't a bad actor, it's just that he wasn't right for Lister. A slobby little Scouser transformed into a rugged Detroit beefcake. But, other than Robert Llewellyn (obviously), he was the most promising of the actors. I didn't think much of Jane Leeves, but I know that other people did. What do you think?

See how I invited a big thread of comments, there? Very subtle. Ta very much to SOTCAA for attracting our attention to this.

Jane Leaves was bloody aweful. I think she's good in Frasier though. I just get the impression that no one performed as well as they could on the RD USA production.

Look at Linwood Boomer, he's the man responsible for Malcom in the Middle and that's not actually to bad!

I bought this film a while back because Craigy was in it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw The Matrix Reloaded shortly after and saw similarities between the two. However, I honestly thought that The Thirteenth Floor did it better. The pace is slower and there isn't really any action to it, but I'd recommend it to anyone who likes sci-fi.

It's refreshing to see a high-concept film that benefits from a rather low budget. There's a lack of spectacle, leaving much more emphasis on a nice plot (with a rather good twist). Bierko is fine.

Secondly, Malcolm in the Middle is great!

Thirdly, Jane Leeves as Holly? Urgh. Too damn annoying. Hattie and Norman played a lot of it deadpan and almost morose ; Leeves does an "Ab-Fab Bubble" kind of thing.

Of course, Jane Leeves's best role was as a topless dancer in Meaning Of Life.

They were only plastic tits, though.

That's OK - I only had a plastic wank to them.
