Boring Crap
Ah, the usual kind of rubbish round-up article. I was all set to do a Prop Store one; but on checking the site, there's only one new thing (that hasn't been sold, anyway) - Kryten's Gingham Dress from Quarantine (production photo here). At £895, what self-respecting fan wouldn't buy it?
Fansite stuff. Back In The Red has news of a film version of Tony Hawks' Round Ireland With a Fridge; and they've also got a new comment and trackback system that isn't based on G&T's at all. The White Hole has updated with a couple more Red Dwarf and Me articles: Pete Martin and John Aitkin give their views on Dwarf. Why haven't I got round to doing mine yet? Because I'm a lazy cunt, obviously. Oh, and on the off-chance you want to read about Brummomeet, Ian has a report in his blog, and Matt has some some piccies. I didn't go; I was too busy looking after the sick and needy. And shagging, obviously. As I'm quite cool.
On merchandise news, The Stamp Centre is offering the IV DVD signed by Robert Llewellyn for £19.99. This goes alongside their established offer of the first three DVDs signed by Craig for £59.85. It would obviously be very mean of me to say that I think Craig's autograph would actually decrease the value of the DVDs by 50% after his recent comments, so I'll go for 25%.
Meanwhile, keep an eye on G&T on April 4th. I'm saying nothin', man. Don't want to spoil the surprise. (A SITE REDESIGN.) I'm taking Friday 2nd off work, and expect to be up 72 hours in a row. You've got to suffer for your art - and that's what we're making here, art...
Comments
I'll look forward to the new look! And at the same time be jealous of your superior web codingness.
I've had a bit of a dissapointment with one of my Red Dwarf and Me's, though. Andrew Ellard has said with regret that he can't assosiate himself with my site due to the copyright infringment... Fair enough I suppose but a real shame :(

Its not based on yours Symes, Capps gave me a link and I went and did it there.
Cock arse
:D

Clearly I was too lazy, hence I didn't notice Hoare wrote the above, which I appologise for. As for the comment system, no I didn't copy, yes I wanted one too but I couldn't get the system working on a another site I went to to put it on my page
Posted by Drzymala at March 8, 2004 05:24 PM
Don't worry; I'm not getting at you. Just my usual friendly sarcasm. I do find it amusing that the front page of BITR has the same structure as G&T's, mind you - but I'm not complaining. I nicked a lot of the front page of G&T from http://www.drobe.co.uk/ - and the previous front page design nicked a lot from a combination of http://www.notbbc.co.uk/ and http://www.iconbar.com/ - that's often what happens with web design. Nick as much as possible.
At the moment, I'm just researching a whole load more sites to nick...

LOL, it wasn't structured to be the same, the actual news headers was taken from a 2000 edition of Red Dwarf World which was shut down. As for the left side of the page, that was from summat I found called the Artemis Fowl Fun site
Posted by Drzymala at March 8, 2004 05:35 PM
Fair enough.
The Comments (x) | Trackback (x) stuff must be though, surely? At least let me retain some of my dignity.
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 05:41 PM
Nope, its just how that site shows them, Capps told me about Enetation but it wouldn't work but the other comments site did, I didn't even know about the trackback til I put the code in
Posted by Drzymala at March 8, 2004 05:57 PM
Well, that's put me in a rather embarassing situation.
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 06:03 PM
Meanwhile, my Trackback pings aren't working. Wah!
I'll have another fiddle.
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 06:12 PM
Ah. It didn't work because I'm a twat. Gah. Done now.
Actually, this is quite cool. When I implemented Trackback on here, I knew nobody would use it for a bit - but hoped they would eventually. Now we've got G&T, BITR, and Ian's blog - if all other Dwarf sites started using it, it'd be cool.

Forgive my pig ignorance but I've forgotten what the hell it does.
Posted by Cappsy at March 8, 2004 06:31 PM
What is the trackback for anyways!?
Posted by Drzymala at March 8, 2004 06:37 PM
heres a question, did someone use it on my site? Now I have some little advert about brummomeet on it!? lol
Hoooooooooooaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeee???
:D

Tsk. You kids!
It's basically a way of linking two articles together when you post a news item; one article references the other. Have a look at the (Trackback 1) on BITR to get the idea.
Erm, it's difficult to explain...
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 06:44 PM
And yes. I PINGED YOU, Matt.
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 06:44 PM
Is that what they call it these days?
Posted by Ian Symes at March 8, 2004 06:48 PM
http://www.movabletype.org/trackback/beginners/
Basically, it's a lot simpler to understand once you use it.
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 06:48 PM
No, I pinged him. I also fucked him anally, but that's a different matter, and not one that is appropriate to discuss here.

>>No, I pinged him. I also fucked him anally, but that's a different matter, and not one that is appropriate to discuss here.
I don't remember this
Posted by Drzymala at March 8, 2004 07:12 PM
You wouldn't have noticed, to be honest.
Posted by Ian Symes at March 8, 2004 07:16 PM
re: trackback. I do not have a fucking clue what you are on about. Technology is not my thing.
re: G+T revamp - sounds good... :)

I'd liked to do a "Red Dwarf and me" but I'm not sure how I sign up!! Do I just E-Mail Capps and ask him to put me in?
Posted by MJN SEIFER at March 8, 2004 08:23 PM
>>You wouldn't have noticed, to be honest
He did it to you too?
Posted by Drzymala at March 8, 2004 08:24 PM
MJN, just email me at jonathan@whitehole-reddwarf.co.uk and I'll forward it to you.
Posted by Cappsy at March 8, 2004 09:21 PM
An MJN SEIFER RDAM article? That's sure to be good.
Posted by John Hoare at March 8, 2004 09:23 PM
So what did Craig Charles say to annoy you guys?
Posted by Andrew D at March 9, 2004 07:05 PM
Oh, just his jibes about the fans on the DVD commentaries.
Hardly mortally wounding, but just a bit silly and irritating.
Posted by John Hoare at March 9, 2004 07:14 PM
The fans made him who he is, he shouldn't be like he is towards the fans
Posted by Drzymala at March 9, 2004 07:26 PM
I sent the E-mail so It should be a matter of time!!
And RE: Craig Charles, are you talking about when he called the fans sad threw out white hole? That was anoying!
