Garbage World Launches

Garbage World's logo. Excellent.Austin Ross, our token American presence, has done good. (I'll forgo G&T's usual racism today, though.) Yes, Garbage World is now online - not a lost script from Red Dwarf IV, but a new Dwarf fansite. It's fairly bare as yet, but it contains some interesting plans for the future; give it a bit of time, and I suspect it'll be rather good indeed. (It's already earnt a place among our Quick Links section; Robert's site and The Red Dwarf Zone have been removed for not updating enough, but we'll add them back if they become active again.)

The news section is already showing promise, with a rather interesting piece of news nobody else has picked up on. Bastard. Erm... I mean, terrific. That sounds enchanting. Well done.

And: bonus points for the excellent logo.

Cappsy and John BEING THE SAME PERSON, there.

That Bob Grant thing is interesting. They seem to have got rid of Colony II and all.

Posted by Ian Symes at March 8, 2004 09:38 PM

Thank God, Colony was bad enough :D I wanna read Incompetence but I have so many books I wanna read before it, I could move it up my list but theres no room yet before the next 5 or 6 i wanna read!

In other news, fantastic news about Garbage World, we asked for new RD sites in another comment thingy and now we've been blessed!

Yay!

It's all good! Another site to keep me on my toes.

We all *are* on our toes!

Book called 'Fat' eh?!

I'll forgo the easy remark about it being a book of a certain kind. I'll leave it up to the rest of you if you can guess :D

There isn't much there at the moment, but I've got a few things that will hopefully be added sometime this week. It all depends on when I can be bothered to actually finish them.

Posted by Austin Ross at March 8, 2004 10:55 PM

Oh, it all sounds so familiar :P

Just a quick question for John and Ian : will the redesign have the links open in a new window? I'm a bit cackhanded when it comes to doing things for myself (ask my boss).

Posted by Peter Martin at March 9, 2004 10:06 AM

No. We're going with the majority, and indeed our own preference. We want it to be down to the choice of the individual user, and it's far less complicated to open things in a new window when it's set to open in the same window than vice versa.

Handy hint: hold down shift when you click the link.

RDZ now has an interesting message on the front page. Hooray!

April/May will either be a busy month for Dwarf fans, or EVERYONE will disappoint us.

Posted by John Hoare at March 10, 2004 04:55 PM

Indeed. Incidentally, now that Garbage World is active, would it not be added to the actual Links section and not just Quick Links?

Posted by Austin Ross at March 10, 2004 06:18 PM

Yes, it would. But seeing as I'm *completely* re-doing the Links section for our relaunch, I thought I'd add it then.

Also: I'll mail you tonight, Austin. I've been catching up on my sleep. Sorry.

Posted by John Hoare at March 11, 2004 04:52 PM

Ah, that would make sense. I'm very much looking forward to the re-launch.

You're linked from there, anyway...

Indeed. "Howard did him a brief, pithy interview recently."

I've been thinking about putting up some sort of comments system for the site, but a) I have no idea how to go about doing it, and b) I doubt I have enough visitors at the moment to constitute a real need for any sort of feedback system.
