Red Dwarf Soundtrack CD!
:-o, frankly. You can see the (really rather lovely) track listing here (PARRALLEL!). The site, Monsters in Motion, is US, but ships internationally. Oh, and please don't tell me that you all already know about it, or I'll kill you, your friends, and your family.
Ta to Hercule Platini on ATVRD who mentioned this on this thread. He's also mentioned that Mac McDonald is appearing on Murder City next week (ITV1, 9:00pm, Thursday 18th March) as Calvin Moran.. The Radio Times capsule goes as follows: "Amanda Donohoe and Kris Marshall star as relentless detectives Susan Alembic and Luke Stone in a gritty crime drama series." The episode, called Critical Path, is given the promising description "When a 16-year-old-girl disappears from her suburban family home, Alembic and Stone recieve unwelcome help from a psychic named Calvin Moran." That's sure to be good.
Oh, and My Family returns next Friday (19th) for a new 13-part (13-part!) series; and Nanarchy-co-writer James Hendrie is part of their "writing team" (and is co-credited for the ep, The Mummy Returns. To be honest, what I've seen of the show wasn't that bad, but I've not seen enough - so can anyone tell me what I should think of it? Thanks.

It's a bootleg, y'know, don't get too excited or buy the bugger. It's compiled from the DVDs, Howard Goodall's website and a couple of other sources. It's profiteering royalty-stealing of the highest order.
Just FYI, like.

I more or less knew that. But I didn't want to put it in the article on the off-chance it wasn't.
Conclusion: rip the DVDs and make your own compilation. But still, it looks very nicely put together.

(As the alt text proves. Ahem.)

Oh yeah, sorry. Didn't notice the cynicism you'd already expressed. I'm a bit dunce-like as you know...
Nice packaging and all, but wrong. I don't actually mind bootlegs if they're of rare or unreleased stuff, but this is just taking the piss.
Posted by Darrell Jones at March 11, 2004 07:55 PM
Heh, my favourite track is "Tounge Tied" from "Parrallel Universe".
Posted by Darrell Jones at March 11, 2004 07:57 PM
To be fair, hiding the cynicism in the alt text was stupid. I did write the article a lot more cynical, and then rewrote bits just in case. Silly, really; of course it's a bloody bootleg.
And yes, it's not really on making money out of DVD rips.

The copyright-free version of the logo is a bit of a giveaway.

Crikey. I didn't even notice that. Although you could probably do someone for using something so massively close.
GNP SHOULD SUE BREVILLE.

Yes, I would be very surprised if that got through any trademark infringement case.
You know, I have a CD very much like that round here somewhere. Packaged a little less wonderfully, but does the same job...

Well if they can do it, here's trying.
If anybody wants to buy an audio tape of parts of "Top Cat" followed by "Heathcliffe and Marmaduke", with a six year old trying to be quiet over the top, do let me know.

I've got a double-C90 set at home called "Red Dwarf Gold". Off-air audio recordings of my six favourite eps (at the time), complete with my eleven-year-old self sniggering in the background. I even used appropriate Smeg Ups as extras to fill up the space at the end, as well as designing a lovely cover.

Shame. I was really rather excited for a moment there.
As for My Family. It's almost as good as The Crouches. Almost.

Ian - I did exactly the same as you! And I was 11 too!
Must be some sort of common phenomena.

Ummm, with my recording of Top Cat, Heathcliffe & Marmaduke and Record Breakers being from the Philip Scofield era of Children's TV and the Broom Cupboard, may I just say firstly that I did it before you, and secondly that I did the first "commentary" to anything in the world ever?
Thanks.
Thus I simultaneously beat you and James Cameron.

Darrell, Joe Champniss has an off-air audio recording of KENNY EVERETT, so he beats us all hollow. I only have a crappy-quality recording of Knight Rider.

I've Palace Hill. But just the start and end theme music.
Posted by John Hoare at March 12, 2004 05:53 PM
I also have the Fawlty Towers episode 'Communication Problems' somewhere. With my younger self introducing it! Ah, those were the days.
Posted by Darrell Jones at March 12, 2004 06:45 PM
But can you beat: The Cook Report music? With me going "dur dur dur dur dur dur DUR DUR DUR DUR DURRRR DERRR DERRR DURRRR DERR DERRR DERRR"?
No, I don't think you can, can you.
Posted by John Hoare at March 12, 2004 06:58 PM
No, but I once invented a dance to the old National Lottery theme music. Which wins over everybody.
Posted by Darrell Jones at March 12, 2004 07:22 PM
Well I was the first (before Paul Merton on Room 101 at least) to walk with my shoes in close-up to The Bill's theme tune.
And I got to the destination before the shoes on the actual programme as well. Beat that.
On top of all of this, I did the FIRST EVER COMMENTARY TO ANYTHING EVER! WHY IS NOBODY APPLAUDING ME?
Posted by jesley carrion at March 12, 2004 07:35 PM
I like that they stuck with "Tounge Tied", printing it 4 times. They must have been pretty certain about that one.
Posted by jesley carrion at March 12, 2004 07:41 PM
So what tracks on this CD are tracks that are not available anywhere else? At first glance I see the instrumental version of Tongue Tied (unless that was on the DJJ single? I don't know) and an apparently extended version of the Series 3+ opening theme. Anything else?
Posted by SecMan at March 12, 2004 07:42 PM
All the tracks are commercially available on the DVDs.
Posted by Ian Symes at March 12, 2004 08:11 PM
Ah so they are, I was thinking the Tounge Tied instrumental would be the version they use at the 'disco' scene in Parallel Universe, which isn't on the DVD, I just didnt dig deep enough to find the alternate versions on the disc. What's "Red Dwarf Theme - Season 3 (1:53") though?
Posted by SecMan at March 12, 2004 10:26 PM
It'll be the prologue music followed by the opening theme dubbed off the start of a video of Backwards, probably.
Interesting that the Better Than Life version of Tongue Tied has been put in the wrong place. That means they used the Remastered versions as reference! The filthy fools!
