Father of Dwarf

As a rather spiffing addition to our recently-launched Son of Clich section, we have an article all about the various ideas and jokes from the series, which were later incorporated into Red Dwarf. It's called Father of Dwarf, as a sort of clever pun. The article contains some painstakingly accurate transcripts, which can also be accessed from the section index, or from the similarly painstakingly accurate Episode Guide.

As an additional piece of Son of Clich loveliness, we have a schedule page, so that you can ensure you don't miss an episode on BBC7, without having to rely on our somewhat confusing and contradictory news articles. Any comments? Scribble away below...

Nice stuff.

If you weren't aware, 'Zygons' are a famous Doctor Who monster from the 1976 Tom Baker serial 'Terror of the Zygons'. Whether the Dave Hollins and Red Dwarf references to 'Zygons' have anything to do with the Doctor Who ones is anybody's guess, mind.

My complete ignorance of any science-fiction that isn't written by Grant Naylor, there.

Very good stuff.

Is there a 10%ers section in the pipeline?

We were planning to do one, Simon - but neither me or Ian has any tapes of it. If someone out there has any they could donate, please get in touch...

I have a very clear memory of Doug Naylor accepting some award or other for the 10%ers and including a dig at ITV's scheduling cowardice in his acceptance speech (as I recall they shunted the second series out to midnight halfway through its run).

Am I right in thinking the second series happened after the Grant/Naylor split?

http://www.reddwarf.co.uk/flibble/alexander/interview.html:

"A second series of it had been commissioned but they'd stopped writing together, so Doug was investigating using other writers on it and I was one of those lucky other writers."

I do get the idea the series was quite funny, but I can't say I remember much of it...
